Barcode Technology Cuts Correspondence Backlog for Healthcare Insurer

Challenge

A leading healthcare payer released new technology allowing members to use a special credit card to fund approved medical costs from their FSA account. Problems in the initial roll-out required several rounds of correspondence wth members. Costs were soaring. 

Solution

DATAMARK developed encrypted barcode technology to print member identification information on outgoing correspondence. This barcode recognition technology automatically identified the member, the specific transaction, and the information required to validate the expense.

Labor was reduced by 90%. Quality exceeded all expectations. The cost of technology implementation was minimal because it utilized existing systems.
